Daily Lift: Turn To Him!
Titus 3:6-7
6 whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7 that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
I love the story of the Prodigal Son in the Bible. The father in the story gave his son his inheritance early, and the son took it and moved away. After squandering it all on foolish things, he found himself broke and working in a pig pen without food or shelter. The son has a revelation that even the servants in his father’s house have it better than he does, so he travels home, equipped with a speech, to let his father know he would happily serve for those wages rather than slop pigs.
The father sees the son coming from far off……because he was watching for him……and ran to meet him before he got home……ordering the fatted calf to be slaughtered, a robe and ring for his son, and a celebration of his return. The father wouldn’t hear of his son being a servant, but restored him to his original status in the family.
My favorite part of the story is the father waiting for his son to return and accepting him back with open arms. I believe that God does that with all of us. He gave us free will to go out and squander all He gave us, but He waits, watching for us to realize that there is a hole in our hearts that only He can fill. When we turn to make the journey back to Him, He runs to us, throws His arms around us, and makes us a part of the family again. Our inheritance is safe and secure.
This is what I know: Saved at eighteen, I had no idea what to do with it. Not plugged into a Bible-based church or being mentored, I was left to wander to and fro. As the storms of life passed and raged around me, I turned to everything but God for wisdom, guidance, and support. God calmly stood by and watched me chase after other Gods……..He never left His post of waiting for me……not once.
When I finally turned the corner and began to seek Him out, He ran to me with open arms, wrapped them around me, and made me a part of His family, not because of anything I had done, but because of WHO HE IS. I am now heir to the throne, a daughter of the Most High God, and my inheritance is secure.
My inheritance isn’t about money… it is about authority, power, the ability to share my testimony, to build the Kingdom of my Father, and to bring HIM glory. I have been fully equipped to do all He has called me to do, just as you are, when you turn from the world and run back to your father, who waits for you.
It is HIS grace and mercy that keeps Him watching and waiting… for you!
