Daily Lift: Holy Spirit!

2 Corinthians 3:17

17 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty (emancipation from bondage, freedom).

Who is the Holy Spirit?

God is the creator of the Universe, and He sent Jesus, His Son, to the earth to not only save us from sin and eternal hell, but to reconcile us to Him after Adam had separated us by eating the apple. Once Jesus ascended into heaven after the crucifixion and resurrection, God sent the Holy Spirit, the third part of the trilogy, to earth to teach, guide, and counsel us so we would have support for the battles of good against evil here on the earth.

When you feel God close to you, it is the Holy Spirit portion of God. When you hear God speak to your heart, it is the Spirit of God talking to you, and when you need help making a decision, it is the Holy Spirit that gives you instruction. He also gives us revelations when we read God’s Word…….He exposes the hidden treasure that God put there for each of us.

The Holy Spirit is the One who lives in our Spirit once we have accepted Jesus as our Lord and Savior. He can be here with us, but because He is a spirit, He is also able to simultaneously go to heaven to search God’s heart for all He has for us……the story of our lives, the plans God made for us before the foundations of the world. He brings to our memory all we have been called to do so we don’t miss it.

This is what I know: I am grateful that God sent the Helper, the Holy Spirit, to guide, teach, and counsel me. He has kept me from leaving the house too early, which lined me up to have an encounter at a store with someone who needed prayer, urged me to go another route home to avoid an accident, and has visited me in dreams to warn me about things coming and how to prepare for them. He has shown me things in the Scriptures I would have never seen without His help, which has allowed me to apply the Word to my everyday life.

With the Holy Spirit’s promptings, I can recognize when I am on the path God set out for me or if I have strayed off on my own. I can discern when I am under attack and why, so I can disarm the enemy and fight spiritually instead of physically. He has taught me how to put on the full armor of God, to seek peace at all costs, and to trust God, for He is faithful.

Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom……and since I have been letting the Holy Spirit guide my steps, words, and plans, my life has been transformed from stress-filled to full of peace. After all, He has searched the heart of God and knows the plans He has for me.
