Daily Lift: Requirements!
Deuteronomy 10:12
12 “And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you, but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all His ways and to love Him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul,
“Please fill out this form, take it to the second window, have it notarized, then get back in line. Once you get back to this window, you will need a check to pay for your registration fees and cash for the notary fees.”
Registering a used trailer in North Carolina turned out to be a long process last Friday afternoon. Since it was the last day of the month, and a Friday, I should have realized my timing was off, especially when I arrived to lines out the door of the building. However, determined to get the plate, I stood in line for over thirty minutes. Happy to finally get my “prize,” I gratefully handed over my paperwork, only to realize that the forms had not been properly notarized. The second line I was referred to was longer than the one I had just stood in, so I chose to leave and try again another day.
Had I been properly prepared, I could have received the plate, had the trailer on the road, and been gathering firewood these past few days. Instead, I have to set aside another large block of time to return to the DMV and stand in line once again to receive the coveted plate.
This is what I know: We are all required, at one time or another, to have all of our work in order. Whether it is with the DMV, IRS, or school system, it makes no difference; if their requirements aren’t met, you don’t get what you came for.
The Kingdom of God is the same way. God requires us to fear Him, walk in all of His ways, love Him with all our heart and soul, and serve Him. Are you able to check off all the requirements? If not, when you get to heaven, and Jesus checks in His Book of Life for your name, you stand every chance of not being found.
You may try to defend yourself by naming your service in the church or community, your love of the Word, but if you do not love the Lord with all your heart and soul or fear Him over the approval of man, you don’t meet the requirements stated in the above verse. It is in black and white there, as plain as day…….it is a requirement to be found in the Book of Life. It is this book that will save you from spending eternity in the lake of fire with Satan.
The Bible clearly states that there will be some who tell Jesus, “I cast out demons in your name. I performed miracles in your name.” Jesus answered, “But I never knew you.” How can that be? By you not meeting the requirements!
